Pelasgia took her name from the first residents of Greece, Pelasgous. At the ancient times it was also known as “Kremasti Larissa” or “Larissa Pelasgia”. Departments from the walls of the fortification grounds of ancient city, Kremasti Larissa or Pelasgia are saved until todays.

The ancient residents of region dealt with the trade, the vine-growing as well as the shipping. Also it is known the production of coper in the region, where operated mines of coper. Result of this production is the cutting of many currencies with the form of Achillea the 3rd century BC.

The years that followed the fate of the region is identified with that of remainder Greece. Persian wars, Macedonian and then Aitoliki and Roman domination.

Today, the substantial boundary walls of the ancient acropolis are still visible, and mosaics from an early Christian basilica have been uncovered a short distance away near the shore
